Location. Hotel Monaco, located in downtown Washington, D.C., is part of the historical Penn Quarter neighborhood. Centrally located, the hotel is across the street from the National Portrait Gallery and the Verizon Center. The International Spy Museum is one block away.

Hotel Features. A National Historic Landmark, Hotel Monaco blends rich history with modern design. White columns, stone stairways and classic exterior architecture reflect the building's nineteenth century past. Bright primary colors, geometric fabrics and modern artwork decorate the hotel's interior. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily at Poste Modern Brasserie restaurant. Contemporary specialties include Braised Short Ribs of Beef with Red Mustard Greens and Corn Hash, and Beef Carpaccio with Striped Bass and Tuna Tartare. Outdoor seating is available during warm weather. An on site fitness center includes cardiovascular equipment and free weights. Hotel Monaco is pet friendly. Upon arrival, pets receive food and water bowls, a bottle of Evian water, a map of dog walks and a special treat. Food items for dogs are available on the room service menu. A complimentary wine hour takes place each evening in the lobby.

Guestrooms. Guestrooms seamlessly blend traditional vaulted ceilings and segmented arches with modern furnishings. Bright reds, blues and oranges cover the beds. Black and white geometric curtains accent the windows. Dark wood furniture completes the room's look. Bathrooms include deep soaking tubs and Aveda toiletries. Rooms feature complimentary wireless Internet access and safe deposit boxes that fit laptops.

Expert Tip. The hotel's "Guppy Love" program offers a companion goldfish to each guest upon request. The housekeeping staff feeds and cares for the goldfish throughout the guest's visit.

Go North on the George Washington Memorial Pkwy.
Continue North on I 395 to the 14th Street Bridge.
As the lanes divide, follow the signs to US 1 N/14th Street.
While crossing the bridge US 1 becomes 14th street.
Continue on 14th street, turn right onto F Street.
Cross 9th Street and proceed 1 block to the Hotel.
